Today, traditional entities can be managed optimistically due to the social capital at stake and reliable legal deterrents for misbehavior. For example, administrators can be trusted by members to not run off with company treasury because if they did, the consequences would be unavoidable. But DAOs often don't have significant social capital at stake and little to no recourse if a member crosses a boundary they shouldn't.

Aragon Court and Agreements will allow a new class of internet communities where individuals more latitude to make decisions  and take action, while ensuring that those actions can be fairly moderated by the rest of the community. If members abuse their powers in some way and the dispute cannot be resolved through other means, the dispute can be escalated to Aragon Court where jurors will decide whether they should be penalized.

The basic idea is that when an organization must escalate their dispute to Aragon Court a small number of jurors will be randomly selected from the juror pool to review and rule on the dispute. If any party, including bystanders (remember everything is completely transparent), feels the ruling would switch if a larger group of jurors reviewed the dispute, then they can pay a fee to appeal the dispute which will send the dispute through another round of adjudication by a larger number of jurors. This process can be repeated until the dispute is ruled on by the entire juror pool.
